This is a full day gastronomical delight private wine and food tour in the Stellenbosch wine region.

Start the tour with a visit to a family run winery in the Stellenbosch wine region of South Africa. Sit under the big old oak trees on a nice day to savour your choice of a MCC (Méthode Cap Classique) wines, paired with either nougat or handmade chocolates;  or inside on a colder day in front of their fireplace.  From helping take MCC sparkling wine production to new heights, to providing a home for the worthy Pebbles Project charity, to an on-site clinic for their own and neighbours’ staff, to covering their cellar roof in solar panels, this has to be one of Stellenbosch’s most respected estates for quality and environmental/social concern. Learn about what  MCC is and how it compares to Prosecco, Cava or Champagne.

Around lunch time we will reach our second stop of the day for a Tapas & Wine pairing of traditional boerekos. Relax under the veranda in summer or snuggle up in winter in front of the fireplace on a working farm where chickens may be seen running around in the farm yard; adding to the authentic ambiance of this working estate.  (Alternatively, a full traditional braai lunch menu can be selected as an option - pre-booking required, extra costs may be involved).

Next we travel through scenic vineyards to visit an all-red wine estate  on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains with beautiful side views of Table Mountain in the distance; located in what is known as the Shiraz Triangle. Learn how this specific terroir influences the growing conditions.  They are known world-wide for their red wines, and are also one of the few estates in the Cape where just five winemakers have crafted the wines over eight decades. Enjoy another unique pairing of Red Wine & Biltong that has been specially created for this estate.  (Alternatively a cheese platter can be enjoyed).

Before returning to your accommodation, our 4th and final stop for the day is to experience an Olive & Wine Tasting on the slopes of Somerset West’s famous Schapenberg. The vineyards and olives trees lie in close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, on the foothills of a mountain where nature reigns, amongst undulating hills and valleys of decomposed shale, their roots dug deep into the soil and canopies arched towards the South African sun.  This is an opportunity to learn the story of the origins of olive oil production in South Africa, and maybe also experience a nice surprise that may challenge your perceptions of dessert!

Our guides are knowledgeable wine enthusiasts themselves and will share their knowledge of this beautiful area with you along your journey.  But it would also be OK if you would like your guide to be silent on your way home…it was a full day and you will no doubt be reminiscing over what you have experienced on this gastronomical tour.
